Village Dhaba, Hubli.

On the way to Bangalore for the Industrial Visit organized by VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, we stopped at a local Dhaba called ‘Village Dhaba’

In this Dingy little place where we didn’t have enough place for a bus full of 50 people, with one table occupied, in Hubli.

Veg Fried Rice, 2/5
I absolutely loved the black plates! But you may guess what’s on that beautiful black plate. Nope! That’s not Pulao, that’s fried rice, Veg Fried Rice.
Gobi 65, 4/5
On the other hand, this thing, was absolutely gorgeous! It was so yum, that neither of us could resist eating it till I clicked a picture for my blog. Though it may not have lived up to the name.

But in the end, you can’t really expect much from a dhaba that’s not in Punjab, and that too for such a low price. Our Tummy’s are full, and so are our wallets. This could be an option for your next travel by road from Goa to Karnataka Via Hubli.

A sneak-peak of the Maharashtrian Cuisine

In the City of Pune, Maharashtra, lies a hill Station Named Saswad. Saswad is situated on the banks of Karha River. Saswad is just about 30 km from Pune Station.

In the month of September, 2019, we visited Saswad for a student exchange program under a MOU signed with Waghire College.
The Maharashtrian Cuisine has distinctive attributes, while sharing much with other Indian Cuisines. Traditionally, Maharashtrians have considered their food to be more austere than others. When someone talks about Maharashtrian Cuisine, the first thing to probably come to your mind would be the world famous, Wada Pav. Vada pav, alternatively spelt vada pao, wada pav, or wada pao, is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra. The dish consists of a deep fried potato dumpling placed inside a bread bun sliced almost in half through the middle, with either a masala called gunpowder or a mint and coriander chutney.
By following stereotypes from Television in India, most of us are forced to believe that most Maharashtrians literally live on chai(milk tea), which I’m scared to say is actually true. In our 3 days visit to Saswad, we were offered nearly 24-30 cups of chai. The different thing about their chai is the quantity they have it in which is nearly like a shot, the amount of sugar they have in it, and the strong tea flavor from the tea leaves.
Misal, is a popular spicy dish in the Western Indianstate of Maharashtra and originates from Nashik. The dish is mostly eaten for breakfast or as a midday snack or sometimes as a one-dish meal, often as part of misal pav. From the day we reached Saswad, the only thing I really wanted to try was the Misal Pav. And the day we had it, trust me, it was totally upto my expectations. One recommendation while trying out misal pav would be, have it from the dingiest stall you can find, ’cause that’s where you’ll find the best one!
Not originally from Maharashtra, but very well known to most Maharashtrians, Pani Puri and Various other Chaat.
Panipuri is a type of snack that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It consists of a round, hollow puri, filled with a mixture of flavored water, tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion or chickpeas.
Pav Bhaji is rather known to most Indians than just Maharashtrians. Put this particular Pav Bhaji is known as Bombay Pav Bhaji. Though it gets its name from the city of Mumbai, it is easily available in any part of Maharashra.

If you’re a fan of the mixture of Spicy and Tangy, the Maharashtrian cuisine is the one you should be going for! I hope this post got your taste buds tingling and your desire to go to Maharashtra Mingling!

None of the food would taste the same if you don’t eat it with all your hearts content!❤
